BS Chemistry Program

This program prepares the student for analytical and research word in the industry, academe, government, and other institutions. in industry, the graduate serves as a quality control assurance personnel for product development. It is common for B.B. Chemistry graduates to rise to supervisory and managerial positions. The title Licensed Chemist applies to graduates who pass the PRC Chemists Licensure Examination. The graduate can take up teaching or academic institutions. The B.S. Chemistry progrma is ideal preparation for pursuing a Master or Ph.D. degree. Many of our graduates have earned their Ph.D.s reputable instution such as Max Planck for Polymer Research, Texas A&M University, The University of Melbourne, and the University of Tokky. Recognition for academics comes in the form on journals and research funding. Government also provides a fruitful avenue for B.S. Chemistry graduates. High-ranking oficials in CHED and DOST are chemists. Laboratories and research institutions that employ Licensed Chemists include the DOST-Regional Standards and Testing Center, DA-Pesticides Analytical Laboratory, DENR Environmental Laboratory, NBI and PNP Crime Laboratories, Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI) and the International Rice Institute(IRRI).

Master of Chemistry Program


The M. Chemistry (non-thesis) program is an instiative by the Commission on Higher Education for the equipping of Tertiary-Level Chemistry Instructors. Students will take up 42 units of coursework including teaching strategies in chemistry and a project (in liev of a thesis). Inquiries may be directed to the Chair of the Department of Chemistry, or elseinterested parties may visit the CHED website.

M.S. Chemistry Program

The Program awards the degree of M.S. Chemistry by coursework and research. Completion of basic (12 units), major (16 units), and elective courses (6 units) allows the students to take a comprehensive examination prior to pursuing a research problem leading to a thesis (6 units). A total of 26 undergraduate units covering inorganic, organic, analytical, and physical chemistry is required for admission to the program. This program is ideal for preparation for Ph.D. work.
